I would not be surprised if the next body of the Mac mini will be as small as this Intel NUC.

This strengthens my belief that Apple on a 5nm process could create a higher end actively cooled SoC with a 95-205W TDP that has a CPU and iGPU performance matching a Ryzen Threadripper PRO 3995WX & RTX 3090 by late 2021 or sometime 2022.Ī refresh body of a Mac mini using the width and height of the M1's logic board could come out by 12-24 months from now. Power consumption and possibly heat would increase further but it's a desktop that replaced a more power hungry Mac. If Mac mini's logic board is about the size of an iPhone 12 Pro Max then is it possible that Apple could have made the Mac mini's logic board double the size to fill up the Mac mini's cavity?ĭoing so could have increase the the absolute performance further. At first I found it absurd that Apple would pack in TB3 that was replaced by TB4 last year. The press and YouTubers are getting confused.

Yesterday at Apple’s ‘One More Thing’ event, we indeed got our first three Macs with the new M1 chip: MacBook Air, MacBook Pro 13″ and Mac mini. Yesterday saw Apple hold their fourth virtual event, debuting the new M1 Apple Silicon chip running on MacBook Air, MacBook Pro 13″ and Mac mini.Īt WWDC last June, Apple announced their plans to bring their own custom designed Silicon to Macs with promises of the first ARM-based Macs before the end of the year.
